final self reflection

final self-reflection
Academic spoken communication is one of my favorite courses I have taken until this moment, I enjoyed every single class. First of all I have to talk about my wonderful professor, he’s just an amazing teacher and I learnt so much from him.His teaching method is so strict and serious which I see the best way to control the students and for own benefit. He taught us the most important thing which is how to look about humanity.

He’s different from other teachers in which he gave us lectures more about our humanity, people and important life concepts beside the educational process. From now on I have to re-look on some other issues positively or to be more accurate I will look more from the humanity concept.Secondly, I will talk about the course I loved all the topics that we talked about in the class and I enjoyed doing my assignments. All the topics that we were asked to write about taught me new lessons. Even my academic writing skills is improved, my spoken English is also improved. For example, CV writing and interviewing assignment improved more of the way to prepare, ask and answer such formal situations. Other example is writing about a poor country, for me I wrote about Uganda using PechaKutchastyle; in which I dropped the light on some heart breaking facts that as we are human should participate in helping those people to live their lives normally.

One last example is the digital story assignment, I talked about digital drugs and I learnt how to narrate an idea in a story like way. In my conclusion I would like to thank my professor for all his efforts to drive us on the right way, I’m so thankfuland I wish for him more success in his career. Plus, I will be the first student to register in any future course that will be taught be him personally.

pecha kucha presentation questions .

Assessment 4: Pecha Kucha Presentation (20%)

Watch the video about Global Poverty, which is an example of the ‘Pecha Kucha’ method

How is this presentation different from others you have seen?

It draws the light on how dark the world is and how unfair life to most of the children.

How do you think this presentation might engage the audience?

I think the shocking statistics of death, sickness and uneducated children. Plus, the high percentage of population and poverty in the world engage the audience really well to rethink about others and how humanity can be rescued.

Complete the missing words below from the presentation:

Number

Details
25
At least  80% of humanity lives on less than ten dollars per day

24
To put things into perspective the top  20%  of the world's population accounts for three quarters of the world's income

23
Half  the world's population accounts for only  5%  of the world's income

22
According to UNICEF  22 thousand  children die every day due to poverty

21
Nearly  one third of children in developing countries are estimated to be underweight or stunted

20
Last year about  70 billion  children of primary school age were not in school

19
Nearly  billion people celebrated the coming up the 21st century without being able to read a book or sign their name

18
Preventable diseases like malaria  affect nearly  500 million people per year

17
Africa alone accounts for roughly  1 million deaths due to malaria annually most of them are children

16
Speaking of children there are 2.2 billion children in the world

15
Half of  them live in extreme poverty

14
Over one billion people have inadequate access to water and 2.6 billion lack basic sanitation - many times this means there's no  separation between drinking water and toilet water

13
That’s  why  1.8 billion children die every year from diarrhea

12
Approximately  half  the world's population now lives in cities and about one-third of those in the city's live in slum conditions

11
In fact slum growth is outpacing urban growth by a frighteningly large margin

10
One quarter  of humanity lives without electricity

9
The  seven richest people in the world make more than the poorest forty-one countries combined that's roughly 567 million people

8
14 percent of the world's population owns over  80%  of the world's private financial wealth the vast majority has managed to avoid all income and estate taxes, either by the counters where it has been invested or where it comes from.

7
For  every one dollar in a developing country receives over  25  dollars is spent
on debt repayment

6
The poorer the country the more likely it is that the debt  repayments are being extracted directly from the people

5
In 1998 8 billion dollars was spent on cosmetics in the United States

11 billion dollars was spent on ice cream in the European Union

17  billion  dollars was spent on pet food in Europe and the US

100  billion dollars was spent on alcohol in Europe

400 billion dollars was spent on narcotics globally

780 billion dollars were spent on militaries around the world

4
In the same year  6  billion dollars were spent on achieving basic education for all, 9  billion was spent on basic water and sanitation and 13  billion was spent on basic health and nutrition for all

3
If you're reading this listing you're in the top 30% of
the world's population when it comes to poverty and wealth

2
With new technologies we now grow enough food to feed  10 billion people- one-and-a-half times the world's population
The problem is that most in the world can't afford to buy that food

1
If the world spent  less than 1%  of what it spends on
weapons all the previously mentioned issues will be fixed
